Pewter Tankard
Pewter Tankard – Glass bottom, British pewter, 2lined tankard.
Dimensions: 13cm tall, 8cm wide.
There are different stories behind the glass bottom tankard. One says it was a way of refusing to join the Kings navy but not drinking if there was a coin at the bottom. Another story is to check the clarity of the ale. There is also a myth that it was to keep an eye on your opponents whilst playing cards or to see if there was an attack coming.
